Smurfy 50th Smurfiversary!
Hello Kitty isn’t the only aging icon who manages to look as good as she did the day she was born, but she seems to have better public relations people than sweet blue Smurfette.
In spite of everyones favorite blue Belgian imports, The smurfs, turning 50 this year there really is little in the way of new Smurfafanalia out there…not even a cute overpriced rhinestone minaudierre. What the Smurf is that all about?
Though neither of these are for sale, you can view some cute Smurf bags (Smurfses?) at Blue Buddies . There are a few pieces for auction on eBay, but they run more to the backpack and lunch bag style, there are a few totes, none particularly inspiring. Alternately, pick up a Smurf print tee, or other textile on eBay, grab a cheap tote, and make your own one-of-a-kind Smurf tote!
It really is a shame that nobody picked up on this little piece of nostalgia and did something with it…I think the market for Smurfs is definitely an under served one.
