Jones Apparel Group, Inc.(NYSE: JNY) reported results for the first quarter ended April 5, 2008. Revenues for the first quarter of 2008 totaled $975 million versus revenues of $1,079 million for the first quarter of 2007. The year over year change includes the approximate $100 million decrease related to the planned exit from certain moderate sportswear lines, which was substantially complete by December 31, 2007.

On April 23, 2008, Rocky Brands, Inc. (Nasdaq: RCKY) reached a settlement with Defendants Glen Bratcher, Westwood Footwear and Accessories LLC, and Nantong Hong Yi Wang Shoes Co. Ltd. in a lawsuit Rocky filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on February 5,
2008. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
Mike Brooks, Rocky’s chief executive officer, said of the resolution of the suit: “We at Rocky have worked very hard over many years to establish lines of boots well known for their appealing designs, outstanding quality, and distinctive appearance. Rocky highly values its intellectual property rights and continues to enforce those rights whenever threatened by third parties.
“The trade dress of the Georgia Giant(R) collection of work boots, Rocky′s collection of Rocky Ride western and work boots, and its product in the Durango line of boots remains strong. This lawsuit was a matter of highest importance for Rocky, its employees, and our customers and Rocky is extremely pleased with the resolution of the case.”

I’m strangely drawn to this shimmery messenger that looks like something Judy Jetson might have carried to school.
The elongated zipper at the front, almost makes the messenger bag look like a smiling alien. It can be carried from the breifcase like handle at top, or slung across the body by it’s longer strap. The longer strap appears to be reflective which only adds to the bag’s spacey appearance.
Inside, there are pockets for a cell phone, a key fob, and a pocket to spare.
The silver leather Olivia Messanger also comes in black patent, and metalic brown, neither of which are as much fun as the shimmery silver. The bag is made by Aanetta, and can be ordered from Aaneta directly for $400.
