Bang for Your Buck: The Lockheart Priscilla Fanfare Shoulder Bag

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

We usually feature bags from Lockheart over on PurseBlog Savvy because of the brand’s very reasonable price points, but sometimes a mid-range bag impresses us so much that it richly deserves to make the jump to and be considered alongside much more expensive bags. The Lockheart Priscilla Fanfare Shoulder Bag is clearly one such occasion.

Lockheart is a master of intricate texture at a reasonable price, and the Priscilla Fanfare bag fits perfectly into the brand’s aesthetic. The use of black allows the pleated, ribbon-accented leather to do all the aesthetic work for the design, and the finished product looks very much like something Valentino would think up. The only difference is that the Valentino version, were it to exist, wouldn’t cost $345.

Not only is the bag reasonably priced for the amount of detailed leather work that went into it, but it’s really two bags in one. The shoulder strap comes off to reveal a perfectly detailed clutch for nighttime use, and at a little over twelve inches wide, the bag is the optimal size for use as either a day or evening option. Black bags can be boring, but this one is anything but. I’m guessing that most women could find a place for this purse in their closets, particularly at such a reasonable price. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $345.

Mulberry for Target

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

One of the most highly anticipated handbag collaborations for Target was their partnership with Mulberry. Once it was first announced, every fashionista was anxiously awaiting a peek at the line. Luckily, Gilt Groupe partnered with Mulberry to sell some of the items before they hit Target stores. The bags sold out in a matter of minutes. The look is very reminiscent of the Mulberry bags we know and love with a price tag that almost everyone can attain. The bags will hit Target stores nationwide in October. Take a look at the first batch of Mulberry for Target below and share your thoughts with us!

Marked Down, the Alexander Wang Rocco is Tempting Me

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I know what you are all thinking: “Megs, you already bought this bag, didn’t like it, and returned it”. You will be right in thinking that. Call me crazy but this exact Alexander Wang Rocco Bag has been haunting me since the day I wanted it, the day I got it, and the day I returned it. It still is not the bag for me, but if you don’t mind the weight and the lack of shape of the bag, you may need to buy this Rocco before it sells out. Part of the Net-A-Porter end of season sale, the Alexander Wang Rocco with wavy stitch detailing is marked 30% down.

Alexander Wang hit big with his Rocco line of handbags and this was my favorite version I ever saw. It has a sporty feel while still retaining the allure of the original. Like I said earlier and in my original review, the lack of shape combined with the weight was not for me. But when I saw this bag hit the sale, I almost got this weird yearning. Alexander Wang, you have found a way to make a bag truly haunt me (and that is hard to do). So if you love the Rocco, this is a great version which is now marked down from $875 to $612 at NAP.

Bag Deal: Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Packables Pouch

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Any other day this review would belong on PurseBlog Savvy, but today it is going right here. Why you ask? Because I love French Bulldogs. I love bulldogs in general (Vlad and I will own an English Bulldog sometime in the near future, they are our love). The little quirky Miss Marc looks all kinds of awkward on the nylon Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Packables Pouch surrounded by her French Bulldog friends.

I would use this pouch for makeup and toss it in my handbag. Then I would pull this pouch out, and explain to everyone around me my love of bulldogs. It would get to the point of being so annoying that only Amanda and Vlad would listen (they both love bulldogs too). So maybe, I should just buy this, and then while I blog all day I can stare at it myself and smile. Thereby keeping all of you out of my bulldog-loving-long-winded-speech-path. Dimensions are 5″W X 9″H X ¼”D and it is available in fuchsia and twig brown. Buy via Saks for $58.
